 Tonewood

Tonewood is a portable device that lets guerilla botanists communicate with plants through the langauge of music. Two probes connect live specimens to the machine, which detect small variations in electrical current coming from the plant. Tones are produced by mapping incoming bioelectric data to a musical scale. Tonewood was made using materials found on site as artist in residence at Hortus Arboretum and Botanical Garden, in Stone Ridge, NY.
